How would you teach bass guitar to a beginner?

Question by Vroom: How would you teach bass guitar to a beginner?
I sold some kid my old bass guitar, and his mother asked me to give him lessons. He's got a bit of formal music training, and plays violin, but he's pretty bad at playing bass. We've done two lessons already, and I've gone over tuning the instrument, how to pluck the strings, how to fret, and we've learned a simple song. I have no idea where to go from here. I'm not an instructor, and I'm no master musician.
