Q&A: A good beginner to expert book/software for learning guitar?

Question by Austrian Marcus: A good beginner to expert book/software for learning guitar?
I tried to learn a while ago, but never had the right tools for learning. Just roamed the internet for tabs and how to read tabs, but that isn't really learning the guitar.

Anyone have any good suggestions for software or books that are good for going from beginner to expert with the guitar? It can be a series too, like series 1 is beginner, 2 is intermediate, etc.
