marching band bass drum help...?

Before i get actual lessons, i have been looking for a site with a short tutorial on how to read marching band bass drum music. I already play the clarinet so i know how to read music but ive heard that for bass drum you only play the notes on a certain line in the staff and the other basses would play the other notes...and you can play different pitches on one bass drum. Anybody know where i can find a website that has this type of info,
