How do I get started with a bass guitar?

Question by Juice: How do I get started out with a bass guitar?
Really should I get the products first? Bass guitar , cords , amps ,headphones . Price range criteria?
Really should I just take lessons first? It is a guitarist teaching bass , I have not looked for other teachers however.
The mother and father have agreed currently. Endurance is the key to achievement but I have school as well.
