Are guitar straps the same as bass guitar straps?

Question by Emiley.: Are guitar straps the same as bass guitar straps?
I've only been playing for a month, and I need a new strap.
The one my bass came with is total crap.
So, when looking online should I look for a guitar strap or specifically a bass guitar strap?
